We’re excited to receive your submission for this year’s Knight Cities Challenge!
The application period opens April 1, 2026. Applications must be submitted by April 30, 2026 at 11:59 PM ET to be considered.
Project ideas must focus on at least one of Knight’s investment areas: strengthening local news and information, creating pathways for economic opportunity or cultivating connection through arts, culture and the places that bring people together.
Knight Foundation will invest up to $200,000 in selected projects, which are expected to be completed within one year.
As part of your application, you must upload a completed budget using the template provided in Submittable. Each organization may submit only one application as the primary applicant, and applications cannot be edited after submission.
All applicants will receive a decision by the end of August 2026.
